moultrie and Port Stephens Council welcomes you to the April networking breakfast.

This month we will hear from two  great speakers each presenting opportunities for businesses and the community.

The Small Biz Connect program links you, as a new or existing small business owner in the Port Stephens area, to your local business advisor by providing a series of one-on-one advisory sessions designed to help you achieve your business goals. The program begins with an initial one hour appointment to discuss the current position of your business, followed by a 2 hour appointment, to take a deeper look via a Diagnostic Tool process. The final 2 hour appointment reviews these results and the information is used to create your business action plan to support your business goals. The program is fully subsidised by the NSW Small Business Commissioners Office under the Small Biz Connect Program – So you guessed it, it will be at no cost to your business.

Justin has had an illustrious career in Rugby League and the NSW police force. He is the coach for the Worrimi Dolphins and he will be speaking about the up and coming Indigenous Rugby League Knockout which will again be held in Raymond Terrace this year . A great opportunity for business to get on board and support this event for Raymond Terrace.

 

 

Raymond Terrace Business Breakfast March 2013

 

Representatives from our local Banking Institutions will introduce themselves and let you all know about a great initiative to help fund the Business Association.

 

Port Stephens Council is drafting the Raymond Terrace and Heatherbrae Strategy, which will outline the community’s vision for Raymond Terrace as a regional centre, and an attractive place to do business and invest.

 

Councils Group Manager of Development Services, Mike McIntosh, will present an overview of the project while Business Development and Investment Manager, Andrew Powrie, will outline the key funding from the recent survey of Businesses in the Raymond Terrace and Heatherbrae area.

 

Also our next quarterly newsletter will be out at the end of this month so to discuss any advertising or let us know if your organisation has any events  coming up please see Rebecca on the morning.

42nd Indigenous Rugby League Knockout

MEDIA RELEASE:

PORT STEPHENS WELCOMES 2012 ABORIGINAL RUGBY LEAGUE KNOCKOUT

Thousands will flock to Raymond Terrace this long weekend when the Lakeside Sporting Complex sees the running of the 42nd Annual NSW Aboriginal Rugby League knockout.

93 teams have registered in open age, under 17, under 15 and Women’s competitions, with an anticipated 2,500 players and officials – and many more supporters – coming into the region in time for kick off.

Hosted in Raymond Terrace by the Metford-based Mindaribba Local Aboriginal Land Council and the Mindaribba Warriors, who took out the 2011 event held at Bathurst, the knockout is a much anticipated annual event for the Aboriginal and sporting community.

“The Aboriginal Rugby League knockout is one of the pre-eminent sporting and cultural fixtures on the Aboriginal calendar in New South Wales and the Mindaribba Warriors are honoured to be hosting this years event at Raymond Terrace,” Event coordinator Smiley Johnstone said.

“It’s been a year long exercise getting to this point and I’m looking forward to seeing the 93 teams in action over the course of the weekend.”

Mayor of Port Stephens, Councillor Bruce MacKenzie, will welcome teams, players and supporters to Raymond Terrace at the carnival’s official opening on Saturday.

“I’ve had a 40 year association with Aboriginal Rugby League and Aboriginal sport in general across the region and as such I’m thrilled to welcome this prestigious competition to Port Stephens,” Cr MacKenzie said.

“We welcome everyone at the knockout to Worimi land and in doing so we acknowledge and pay our respects to the Worimi people, who are the traditional custodians of the land, and their elders past and present.

“I know from past experience that competition this weekend will be fierce and that this knockout is a real focal point on the calendar for Aboriginal people throughout the state.

“I’m personally looking forward to catching as much of it as I can over the course of the long weekend.”

Action kicks off at 8.30am tomorrow, Friday 28 September, at the Lakeside Sporting Complex, Leisure Way, Raymond Terrace, with preliminary matches scheduled for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Grand Finals will be played on Monday, October 1.

Traffic delays on Richardson Road are expected for the duration of the event and changed traffic conditions will be in effect.

Prior to joining Hunter TAFE earlier this year, Belinda worked extensively in private business, studied an MBA at Newcastle University and has been an active member of the business community.

Online Consultant, Port Stephens Examiner, will be talking about a new initiative of Fairfax called Connect Pink. This is a Regional and Rural networking and business website for women which includes chat rooms, blogs, a swap section for goods and recipes also a continuous news feed. It is similar to facebook in the way of interacting with friends. It also supports the McGrath foundation.

Raymond Terrace June Business Breakfast

The moultrie is pleased to present it’s June Business Breakfast at the YMCA Raymond Terrace.

This meeting will feature 2x guest speakers. Lesley Morris from Port Stephens Council will present on the role and activities of council’s Economic Development Unit and Coby Halpin from YMCA Raymond Centre will provide an overview of the services and facilities that the YMCA has to offer.
